Here is another of the best tips you’ll ever get as a high school parent…
‘08ers have received several mailings by now from Dean Stewart Photography, official yearbook photographers, asking them to make an appointment for their senior portraits. They need to do this if they want their picture in the senior section of the yearbook. You do not have to buy photo packages from Dean Stewart, however, and it definitely pays to shop around when it comes to senior portraits, in terms of quality, price and options.
Hate those cheesy backgrounds, for instance? Events To Go, in Cape Canaveral, will take photos on the beach at no extra charge. They also take about 60 shots and give you all the proofs in a booklet to keep and also include most retouching for free. Their turnaround time is usually less than 2 weeks so you can wait until later in the school year to order, when you know how many of everything you’ll need. Stop by their Cape Canaveral studio (just off AIA at Buchanan) and pick up a price sheet and compare with DSP. They usually have coupons that waive the sitting fee, too, making it even cheaper. Ask them to show you a sample senior proof book while you’re there and I’m betting that will seal the deal.
Update: Unfortunately, this company has changed hands and I no longer feel comfortable recommending them.
For a top of the line, high end, truly artistic senior portrait see photo pro and CBHS dad Ray Baldino. Ray often has CBHS senior portraits on display in his studio next to Roberto’s on AIA. Very impressive to say the least.
